The first time I ever heard Ashley Spurling (AJ’s Mom, for my blog followers) sing, it sent chills down my spine (and that doesn’t happen often). Seven years later and even though she is one of my best friends and I hear her sing all the time, her voice still gives me chills. She has a stunning voice – on of those that you have to hear to believe.

Ashley sings with Red Mountain Music, a group of amazingly creative Birmingham musicians who primarily arrange new music for very rarely used hymns.

For the first time this year, they have created a Christmas CD, called Silent Night. It uses the traditional arrangements of the songs, and is simple, eloquent, and beautiful.

And I have four copies to give away to you!

I personally love this selection of music – especially my favorite traditional Christmas songs, “What Child is This” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. Oh yeah – an I love “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus”. OK – I LOVE them all!!!

To be entered into my giveaway, all you have to do is comment on this post! Say whatever you like – tell me what your favorite Christmas song is, or how unbelievably awesome Ashley’s voice is, or just a plain ole; “Hey! Enter me!!”. Please only enter once.

You can enter whether you’re a blogger or not – just remember that if you enter as anonymous, at least write your name in the post, and your email address also if you want to get an email if you win!

Entries will be closed at midnight on Monday, November 10 and the winner will announced at 3pm Tuesday, November 11, just in time to get in the Christmas spirit!!! If you leave your email address, I will email you. If not, you need to check back on 11/11 to see if you won!!

p.s. – yes, Ashley is also in our small group, along with the author of the books in my last giveaway, Jarrod. If only I were as talented as all of my friends (sigh) :)

    I love Christmas music. We just purchaed Josh Grobin and have already started to listen to his Christmas album even though it’s not even Halloween yet! LOL!!!

    My favorite is Andy Williams “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” among other songs.

  6. My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night”. That song, when done right, sends chills down MY spine.

    And I agree that Ashley has one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard! It thrills my soul to hear her sing. I know that sounds like overkill, but that is the only way to describe the feeling I have about it. Super amazing!

    And Rach, don’t sell yourself short. I am amazed at your organization knack and your knack for numbers and money management. I know it may not feel like a big deal to you because it comes so easy, but to me, that’s huge. And of course you are a very talented writer.

  36. I love traditional Christmas carols. My favorite’s are Little Drummer and O Come all ye Faithful, but really I love them all. I even love a contemporary one called Mary did you know. I would love to be entered into the contest. And Ashley does have an amazing voice.

  58. I was in a very abusive relationship when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I took solace in the song Silent Night; and I used to sing it to my daughter while I was carrying her.

  96. I own every CD put out by Red Mountain (except this one) and have fallen in love with Ashley’s voice. We used to be members at Oak Mtn. PCA when living in B’ham and then moved out to Moody and joined Comm. PCA (where Stokes and Connie Skellie are members). Now, my husband is a PCA pastor and we live in Columbus, GA. Gosh, I sho’ do miss B’ham. Thanks!

  112. I love Christmas music too! I could seriously listen to it all year. When my boys nap, I play mellow Christmas music and it puts them right to sleep. They love it in the car too! You can even catch my husband whisteling Jingle Bells in July. :)

  177. Beautiful music! I *adore* Christmas music, and this one sounds like it would go on the fast track to my list of favorites! As for my usual favorite Christmas music, O Holy Night is usually top of the list, but I also grew to love Sarah McLachlin’s version of In The Bleak Mid-Winter over the past holiday. I have to say I’ve never heard Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent before your posting of the samples of the songs, and it sounds gorgeous. I’d love to hear the song in it’s entirety… along with the rest of the CD. Thanks for the exposure to this group, and for the chance to win!
