I promised Ali that she could tell all of you Newbie’s secret…
What…you can’t read that? Have YOU tried to get a three year old to hold a sign and smile at the same time?
Okay…let’s try again…
It is indeed a boy!!!
But don’t mistake her happy expressions for being thrilled with the outcome… that pitchfork-shaped Y was her special touch.
She’s actually quite busy plotting as to how to turn Newbie into a girl.
“When can we go see Newbie on the tv again where she is a girl?”
“We can’t, because Newbie is a boy.”
“But WHEN will she be a girl??!!”
“Um…she won’t.”
“But I want her to be a girl!!!”
I also let Ali call my Mom to tell her the news, and apparently either my Mom is getting quite hard of hearing in her ancientness, or my iPhone speakerphone isn’t so great after all.
Mom: “Hello?”
Ali: “I have a baby brother!!”
Mom: “You got a baby Rabbit?? Seriously?!?!”
Me: “Tell her again, Ali.”
Ali: “I have a baby sister!!”
Mom: “You do!?!??!”
Me, cutting in panickingly, “NOO!!! Ali, tell her right!!”
Ali: “I have a baby brother!!!…….okay I’m done now.”
But despite Ali’s unsureness of a baby of the male gender, I’m excited! It will be a new experience, and I’ve always heard that little boys have a special connection with their Mothers.
On second thought, maybe THAT’S why Ali’s not too excited…jealousy is an ugly thing.
Congrats Rachel!
YAY!! So excited for you guys!!! What a blessing. Congratulations Rachel and Chris! Love you guys!
Congrats Rachel!! Boys are the best, but then again I am a little partial! :)
Congrats! I'm so excited to have a nephew and I KNOW Eli will be glad to have a boy cousin to play with. And it's true, there's something special about that mommy-son relationship (and the mommy-daughter relationship, too, but you already have that! :))
Move over dolls and princesses, trucks and tractors are coming through! :)
Congrats! So excited for all of you. My daughter was less than thrilled when we found out that my last was going to be a boy, to the point of not even wanting to LOOK at him for several weeks after he was indeed born a boy. He grew on her though and now they are attached at the hip most days. Here's hoping Ali warms up to the idea of a brother soon!
oooooooooooooooo I am jealous!!!! I want a boy so bad!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!
I knew it, I knew it! Congratulations Chris, Rachel and Ali!!!!
Just tell Ali if she needs a boy break, she can always come play at my house!
Yea for boys! How exciting :).
Congrats! She'll come around — especially when she see how easy it is to boss him around!! :)
Congratulations! I have one of each and I can confirm that boys are equally awesome. My little guy is four and regularly tells his daddy he loves him, "but not as much as I love mommy." We've even had to explain several times that he cannot marry me when he grows up. Boys are definitely not as fun to dress and I imagine I'll be closer to my daughter (who's still a baby) someday when they're both grown, but for now it's pretty nice being adored :)
WHOO HOO!!! I'm so, so, so, so excited for you guys! Boys are awesome, and they do indeed love their mommies!! Hooray and congratulations!!!!!
Yay!! I KNEW it!
What fun it will be to have a brother/sister pair.
Yay! Congrats, Boys are great.. at least I think my nephew is the best. Glad that everything went well and I am sure Ali will warm up to the idea of a baby brother.
Let the name negotiations begin. I like Caleb
Congrats! I am still on my streak of being unable to guess the gender of an unborn baby correctly. Having one of each is awesome! It's the best of both worlds…
That's wonderful, wonderful news. I'm so excited for you. Ali's picture is perfect!
Congrats!!!
How exciting to have one of each (at least for now). Ali will just love her new baby brother. Maybe she'll think he is a "special" Christmas present just for her.
Anyways…CONGRATULATIONS to all of you.
Yay for a boy!
Can't wait to read about the upcoming name discussions/arguments :)
But, whatever his name is, I just want you to know that it will be a wonderful, unique name that fits him exactly…isn't that what I'm supposed to say? ;)
Congrats!!! SO excited!! I was like Ali when I had my brother! I wanted a sister so badly! In fact I still do today…haha….
I knew it was a boy!!!
What wonderful news, and don't worry, Ali will come around. She will be a great big sister.
You are going to love having a little boy. They really do think their momma's are the best thing ever.
Ahhh! Yay! that's so exciting! :) Now the naming battle begins.
YAY!!! Congrats!!! It is true, boys DO love their mommas. I am so happy for you!! Ali will come around….oneday. LOL Her picture is too cute! She is adorable and I am sure her baby rabbit…er….brother will be too!!

I knew it! Congratulations to you all!
I'm glad you let Ali announce it properly. :) :)
Congratulations! Boys are lots of fun. Ali will be the best big sister. She'll show newbie the ropes!
Love it! I'm so happy for you! Boys are amazing!!
Congratulations! I had a girl first and a boy second. Boys do have a special bond with their mommies. :)
I knew it! Congrats!!!
Yay!!!! I guessed right – does this mean I win a prize? Please, please, please…
I'm so happy for you and I already can't wait to see him!
My nephew told everyone his mom was having a puppy, and no one could convince him otherwise. She was scheduled for a c-section, and he faithfully counted down the last days. When we took him to the hospital to meet his new sister he asked where his new puppy was. He was three at the time and cried all the way home when he finally realized his mom had a baby, and not a puppy!
Well YAY! Even though my guess was wrong, I'm still excited! Emma and Luke are best friends. I'm sure Ali and Mr. Tummywrecker will be too ! Congrats!!!
I knew it. : ) you've got a lot of learning to do bc boys and girls are TOTALLY different…at least mine are. I love Ali's faith that things will improve…but your mom may want a more accurate delivery system for information next time! Yay!!
Congratulations!!! I'm sorry Ali isn't more excited…she's too funny! I'm sure she'll love having a little brother once he gets here! Maybe she can help look through names to get excited about him.
T SOOO wants a boy. Actually he really wants TWO boys. So I'm really hoping our next two are boys, b/c I've always planned on four kids and no more. :) I can totally see us with all girls though. I'm not sure I'd know what to do with a boy!
Congratulations again!!! One of each! So fun!
I am thrilled. I really didn't care but I seem really thrilled at a girl and a boy for you two. Love you.
Praise God for the gift of sons! We had a boy after a string of four girls. I, quite honestly, wasn't sure that I'd like having a boy. I mean, my girls are so great! But, let me tell you, this boy thing is SO*MUCH*FUN!!! Entirely different creatures they are. I'm sure that he and Ali will have a blast together. Congratulations!
Prepare to be smitten.
Congrats!
Congrats!! Special Connection? Definitely! You'll LOVE it!
Congrats Rachel! :)
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
YAY! Awwww, you will have one of each! So happy for you!
Oh Congratulations- what wonderful news! Ali will be an awesome big sis to her little brother.
PS Muwahaha Ali's "Y" cracks me up!
Congratulations! Boys are soooo fun!!
congrats i knew it was a boy… now time for names the fun part. of course my son is an only child and he was named from his dad and granddad. but i got to pick out what we call him.
I was right!
favorite boy name: Theodore, but most often called Ted or Teddy
Too cute as always!
There definitely is something special about the mommy-son bond. :)
Ki was at Ella's US and said, "But I wanted a brother!" Then he would tell people he was having a brother. Occasionally he'll still cal her a boy in public. Not sure if it's a slip up now, of if he's being goofy cuz he ADORES his baby sister a.k.a. his "sweet girlie"!
awesome, congratulations!!
