Saturdays are made for random, right?

First of all, in case you missed my tweet/facebook status, the plaid epidemic that I informed you of earlier this month is getting worse:IMG_2324

Yes, it’s true: The Plaidemic has filled in every crack and reached the very scivvies of our society.

(Thanks, Tim, for adding “Plaidemic” to my vocabulary)

Now, on to an even more shallow topic:

It seems like I write an annual post bemoaning my boredom with my hair.

Well, I finally did it.

I actually, for the first time in my life, got my hair colored. Are you ready for this? Because it’s bold. It’s different. It’s extreme.

Here’s the before picture:

Now brace yourselves to be shocked….

Aaaand, the after picture:

Yeah. I know. I’m so drastic like that.

I admit it, I was a bit scared of the whole process, and really just wanted to shine, body, and vibrancy that coloring (without bleach) adds to hair. So I talked my wonderful hairdresser down a shade (she wanted to go darker but I’m deathly afraid of goth. Or looking really pale. Or worse, both.), and the end result was pretty much my own hair color, with the shine and without the gray hairs uniformity of color.

But now that I am comfortable with the whole process, next time I’ll TOTALLY go pink.

In other news, I am unable to move my legs a bit sore today because I bent to the peer pressure of EVERY OTHER BLOGGER IN THE WORLD and started Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred workout on Thursday. IMG_2491 Well, actually Ali and I started it. And yes, when you’re two, apple juice bottles are perfect handweights to achieve the purpose of being like Mommy.

(I totally remember doing this with my Mom, except it was Jane Fonda with her super fad legwarmers, sweatbands, neon leotards, and Paula Abdul music…)

Ali intently watched the three women in sports bras do exercises and tried to participate. Then, about halfway through the video, she stopped, stared at them carefully, then lifted her shirt up to the level of a sports bra and held it there, looking down to make sure she looked like them.

Oops.

Yeah, um, kids learn from TV. A lot. Did you know that?

Speaking of which, I’m REALLY wondering what Curious George episode she picked this one up from.

After getting this coke bottle wrapped up just like she wanted it,IMG_2408

she announced, “I’m having a Birthday Bottle!!!”, and tipped it back:IMG_2411

Yeah. I’m not at all sure what that was about.

She’s a Toddler Wino.

And for my last randomnity of the day, Ali and I took a trip to Target yesterday. She was lucky enough to spot what she calls a “Gymnastics Buggy”.

I bet you didn’t know that they had Gymnastics buggies, did you?

Yeah, our Target is SPECIAL.

In spite of this long list of warnings:IMG_2479

I, the good mother that I am, allow my child to stand:IMG_2476

Stand higher:IMG_2483

Jump off and swing with glee:IMG_2484

Oh, and climb even HIGHER:IMG_2487
All while I was pushing the buggy and shopping.

Because, you see, she’s a Gymnastics Pro. Those signs are just for the inexperienced kids, right? Nothing bad could ever happen, right?

  1. Your randomness keeps me informed.

I love the hair! You are beautiful. And Ali is the bestest gymnast I've seen walking the aisles of Target.

About "The Shred", I haven't gone there yet, but the pressure is building within blogland for me, too.

  2. Your hair looks great and good luck with the shred. Like you even need to be doing the shred!

    I love Ali's gymnastics. She's gonna be a star!

  3. Love the new shiny hair color! Beautiful way to be introduced to the hair dying world!
I've done the shred, but I've never done it for 30 days. Good luck!

  4. Love the hair! I'm a veteran hair colorer (is that a word?) because the gray started super early with me. I'm doing The Shred too and it's a killer.

  5. On a totally different thread from all other comments… I hope that you left a spare "gymnastic buggy". I get more upset with someone using those carts for one kid than any offense I take for the parking spot issue — two minutes of inconvenience going in vs. two hours inconvenience in the store.
No pressure, though, I am sure we shop at different Targets. :) Julie

  6. Ok, Miss Beautiful, you and your hair are completely gorgeous.

I'm still hating the Shred but it's working so I gotta go with it. But, I hate Jillian and always will.

Love the gymnastics at Target. It kept your sweet little wino happy so who can argue. ;)

  7. Love the hair! I found a couple of white hairs on my head the other day! White…not gray…what the heck, I'm 27!!! My mom JUST started getting gray hairs and she's 18 years ahead of me! Grr. Okay, I'm done complaining. :)

That is such a sweet picture of you and Ali exercising. I love it when they want to be just like us…I know it won't last for too long. :)

  8. I love your hair! There is definitely added shine.

Your daughter is the cutest! Love the toddler whino description – I snorted :)

  9. I like the hair! Not too dark, just right…my kids LOVE the Target carts. They all in gymnastics, and the youngest thinks those bars are just for her!

  10. I used to do that Jane Fonda workout with my mom too! It was all about the grape vine and tipping the hat if I recall! Fun memories!

  11. It is certainly interesting for me to read the blog. Thanks for it. I like such topics and anything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
