I sometimes feel guilty for how familiar my child is with all of the restaurants in town. I mean, what kind of mother AM I that my three year old could give a well-informed tour of the city’s dining establishments, including who has the best Chicken Salad, Grilled Cheeses, and coloring pages?!
I mean, I love to cook, but we apparently go out a lot, too. Especially for lunch.
So the other day, we were meeting Ashley, AJ, and Tessa at Taziki’s for lunch, a great casual Greek restaurant in town.
I told Ali where we were going, and of course she knew the place.
“I LOVE Taziki’s!!! They have really fun toys!!!”
Hmm…maybe her restaurant knowledge isn’t as good as I feared. “No baby, Taziki’s has food, not toys.”
She mumbles in the back seat….”They HAVE toys.”
Whatever. I guess she’ll just be disappointed.
When we got to our table, Ali quickly proved herself right and myself, as usual, completely wrong.
Oh yeah…I DID take this picture of Ali and her Taziki Toy last time we were there…
And Taziki’s provides such versatile toys for their patrons…it can be used as a Spyglass-On-The-Wrong-Eye, OR it can transform a couple of Fairies into Fly Girls!
Granted, the waitress MIGHT have had trouble locating our table since they couldn’t see our order numbers, but the Fly Girls didn’t mind…they were too busy, as AJ informed us, “Saving that day!!!!” to eat anyway.
Now if only I could find where Taziki’s buys their fun toys, I’d have a perpetually entertained toddler…because really, who needs REAL toys anyway?!
This just confirms my hypothesis that kids are like puppies/kittens. Give them an expensive toy and they ignore it, give them a cardboard box and they go nuts. ;)
Isn't it funny how kids can find the most pleasure out of the simplest things? K has always had more fun with non-toy items then with the best, most expensive toys.
Very funny! Kids are somethin'! Mine are out of non-toys and into electronics…. _sigh_ I miss days of boxes and non-toy toys.
Can I just say that I LOVE that the girls went to the restaurant with fairy wings on?! Adore those two!
How funny! I know we go out to eat too much! But we're working on cutting down.
Of course, you realize that if you purchase these "toys" then they will no long be fun to play with, right? There's a restaurant by the lake house that has a ton of toys and my niece always plays with this one I-don't-even-know-what-the-eff-it-is toys, so her mom bought it for her. She no longer plays with it…..
It always amazes me what can be a "toy" for a child: metal birds, rubber ducks in a "pattern", candles and their holders, etc. But if she is happy so am I.
Those things are pretty awesome. And any restaurant that provides entertainment for my kids, whether they intend to or not, becomes a favorite of MINE.
Love it!! (especially the fair wings!)
When my son was a little over a year old, everytime the doorbell rang he'd say "pizza!"
Oh yes, I can relate to this one! ;)
Ali's just a well-rounded toddler!
I love kids and how they manage to do this with everyday things. They're the best!
I'll have to remember this next time we go to Taziki's, we always need entertainment during the meal :)
Love the fairy wings!
