I just wanted to let all of you know that were in the storm’s path that I’ve been following the landfall and aftermath with a close eye.  I have been praying for you all!

We’re all too familiar with horrific storms around here, and even more familiar with power outages.  I know how difficult it is to go days without power – it’s draining and depressing.

So if you were at all affected by Sandy, let me know how you’re doing! I’m not sure how many of you were in the line of the storm, but I really want to hear from those of you who were.

Also, if there are ways to help those in your areas affected by the storms, let me know that as well.

So please, check in and tell your stories!  I will be praying for a speedy recovery process for everyone involved.

  1. I am in the DC Metro area and am looking forward to getting out of my house again today! I’ve been hunkered down for two days (except for the obligatory CVS run for more chocolate); Monday for the weather, yesterday at the request of authorities so they can clean up. We fared amazingly well here, all things considered. Lots of fallen trees, some flooding on the Potomac, some power outages, but all in all, not terrible. My thoughts are with those in NY and NJ – it’s going to be awhile before things are back to normal for them.

  2. We live close to you in Helena, AL so nothing at home. However my five-year old son and I were on one of the two Disney cruise ships that sailed through the storm. We spent three days on the Disney Dream 10/25-10/28 bouncing around in the swells. Not only did we miss both of our stops, but most of the outdoor areas were shut down so there wasn’t much to do. I know this is nothing compared to what the people whose homes were damaged or destroyed, but very disappointed to have spent so much money and then been sailed directly INTO the storm (we had made it most of the way around it when we were turned back toward Nassau, when it was a Category 2 storm). An adventure for sure.

  3. We’re in Virginia Beach and came through it pretty well. Stuck in the house for 3 days with five little boys wasn’t easy exactly, but we survived with no power loss, thank the Lord. I don’t know what I would have done if we didn’t have cable and video games to distract them!

    1. No, 3 days x 5 boys DOES sound a bit overwhelming!!

As an aside, I’ll be in Virginia Beach in a little over a month for a wedding – I’ve never been before and am looking forward to it! I think we’ll have a date Saturday night – let me know if you have any recommendations!!
