Item #1:

This toy machine seems to have been very strategically placed at my favorite mall:

My Vote: Hilarious. I especially love that ALL of the “toy chests” are missing…as if everyone frantically stocked up on them before going in the store behind it to buy some packaging for their new finds.

Item #2:

They’re now running commercials for the very Mom-Jeaned Denim Diapers that we talked about a couple of weeks ago…

My Vote: DIS-TURBING. If a child is old enough to not just walk, but SAUNTER down the street, he should be wearin’ some pants. If they’d done it with a crawling baby, however, it COULD have had hilarious potential. MAYBE.

Plus? When they say “chic”, it doesn’t sound like “chic”. And they know it, too – they have a modified version of the commercial that they run during Dora the Explorer that replaces “chic” with “fashionable”. Thank goodness – because really, do you want your toddler running around saying, “My diaper is full. Full of CHIC.”

Also? The fronts of those diapers are U-G-L-Y. They’re definitely Grandpa Jeans all the way.

You weigh in on both: Disturbing or Hilarious? And have you seen anything else disturbingly hilarious lately?

  1. first one: Hilarious, I would probably laugh if I saw it in person. And why is it empty?

Second one: I find a little distrubing too, it was playing last night during Sprout channel Good night shows. I didn't notice the Chic part but I thought why not just put baby blue jeans on them. Who needs a diaper that looks like jeans.

  2. I vote right along with you … HILARIOUS!
Hey guess what? Tomorrow's Friday – so here's hoping you have a wonderful weekend :)

  3. Easy Peasy! The first one gave me a hearty chuckle, and the second made me spit coffee across the room. WHAT THE???

  4. I vote with you hilarious & disturbing. Although I did think the slogan at the end of the commercial was hilarious, "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants." This commercial confirmed my suspicion that Huggies is trying to pass off the jean diaper as actual jeans, which I am opposed to.

  5. first one: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA seriously laughed out loud and showed my friend at work

second one: the diapers themselves are cute enough, especially in the south where it gets H.O.T. But the commercial? Definitely disturbing. The little boy is cute, but I'm way opposed to the come hither-ness of the ad.

Did that make any sense? Anyhoo, #1, funny, #2, not so much!

  6. Love the product placement on the first one. The commercial? Really? "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants." And the whole chic thing? What are they thinking?

I saw a talking rotten toenail commercial this morning and gagged a little. Note to self: never Google "rotten toenail commercial." Just take my word for it, it was awful.

  7. The toy chest… I love it!! hilarious!
The whole denim Huggie ad- definitely disturbing. Another reason to stick with Pampers!

  8. Lol, I think they are both hilarious! The diaper commerical is hilariously disturbing though. It's not hilariously funny, it's hilarious that someone thought of that and thought that commercial would make parents buy their diapers. :)

  9. 1st: hilarious. you know the dads got all the toys in the toy chest, hanging out in front of that store. . .

2nd: creepy. Why are all those people "checking out" the toddler. I'm not sure that's ever a good idea for a toddler-intended item. . . (although I might buy the diapers for my kids if they were still in diapers. . .)

  10. The jean diaper commercial is beyond disturbing on so many levels…Huggies needs a new marketing director!
